Holder of a Master’s degree in biology and plant physiology, Bruno Bessis has been working for nearly 20 years on sustainable development both at the building and the city scales. For eight years, he was head deputy of the sustainable operational development office within the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Territorial Communities in France. He was notably in charge of coordinating the EcoQuartier label assessment approach and steering EcoQuartier labelling campaigns.
Bruno Bessis, is now project manager of the Vivapolis network and promotes French know-how’s about sustainable cities in France and abroad. In this capacity, he promotes tools, methods and innovations developed by public and private stakeholders in sustainable development. He also assists foreign cities wishing to implement the EcoQuartier label approach, which represents the French vision of the sustainable city.
As part of his mission, Bruno Bessis participates in the work of the association France Ville Durable (FDV) created at the end of 2019. This new structure is intended to be a national partnership body with a balanced representation of French sustainable city stakeholders (national and local public actors on the one hand, private actors and experts on the other) gathered in 4 colleges. At the service of the general public, FVD will aim to provide support to innovative projects, to organize the dissemination and promotion of French experiences and know-how’s in the field of sustainable cities.
