Marcus Zepf

Bio

Professor Dr. Marcus Zepf, Co-Director of the Paris School of Urban Planning, University of Paris Est Creteil – Val de Marne is a professor and researcher in urban planning. While working at the Smart Living Lab in Fribourg between 2015 and 2017, he conducted research on the consideration of uncertainty in the urban field. Between 2010 and 2015, he was director of the Grenoble Institute of Urban Planning. Prior to that, he conducted research at the CNRS at the INSA in Lyon and at the Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat. After completing a doctorate in Urban Sociology from the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland (1999) and Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2004), his research focuses on low-cost housing (containers for housing and re-urbanization) in Middle Eastern countries, the socio-spatial quality of public spaces and green spaces, the synergy between heritage and urban renewal as well as the dynamics of metropolization and territorial planning
