Bio

Nedjoua Bouarroudj has a doctorate in town planning and is a research professor at the University of Constantine 3 (Constantine, Algeria).

Passionate about ecological architecture and eco-urban planning, her professional career began with opening her own architectural practice in 1992 before joining the General Directorate of National Security (civil police of Algeria) as an architect.

In 2004, Nedjoua joined the University of Constantine 3 where her research and teaching adventure began. She started by teaching courses in urban ecology, sustainable development, renewable energy, and climate change. In 2012, her experience led her to develop and then teach in the newly created Masters Program in Urban Eco-management and Sustainable Development. This program includes a collection of courses Nedjoua developed entitled “Urban Ecology and City Management”. A revised version of these courses is currently under development.

Nedjoua’s areas of interest are currently focused on issues related to urban sustainability, eco-neighborhoods, energy retrofitting of buildings, quality of urban life and smart cities. Since 2018 Nedjoua has been a member of the Intellectual Property Committee at the University of Constantine 3, and in 2020 she became a member of the Committee for Monitoring and Promoting Research at the University. This new scientific endeavour has enabled her to focus on debating questions related to copyright and the promotion of research and innovation which she considers to be the lever of all scientific and technological advances.
