Bio

Hugo Rochard is a PhD Student in Geography at the Université de Paris (ex- Paris Diderot), within LADYSS (UMR 7533) and LabEx DynamiTe. After studying humanities and graduating in Geography and Planning, he decided to specialize in environmental studies. He has been working on environmental politics of the emergent Greater Paris Metropolis and has been studying the production of eco-neighborhoods in France and in North America. It was during a field trip to Vancouver, Canada in 2017 that he first encountered city-dwellers involved in local environmental restoration projects. Seeking new insights about non-human beings in urban territories, he shares his field work between Paris and New York City.

Hugo Rochard’s doctoral dissertation work addresses the structure of civic environmentalism in major metropolitan areas. He explores ordinary modes of action on urban natures in the Anthropocene.
